Gotion High-Tech has secured the battery-energy-storage technology supply role for three utility-scale projects in Saudi Arabia with combined capacity of 1.5GW/6GWh.
The supply scope covers the Al-Muwaih and Haden projects in Makkah Province and the Kahafah project in Hail Province. Each facility is planned with capacity of 500MW/2,000MWh.
Saudi Power Procurement Company awarded the projects under 15-year storage-services agreements to a consortium comprising Saudi Energy Company, ACWA Power and Al Sharif Contracting and Commercial Development Company.
The three agreements carry a combined disclosed value of approximately SAR3.25bn (US$866m). The developer consortium is responsible for financing, building, owning and operating the facilities and connecting them to the grid.
Gotionโs appointment establishes a 6GWh equipment-supply package within the kingdomโs first 2GW/8GWh utility-scale standalone storage programme. Procurement and delivery will involve battery containers, power-conversion systems, thermal management, battery management, grid controls, transformers and associated civil and electrical works.
