Larsen & Toubro has formally executed two contracts from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority for construction of the Latifa Bint Hamdan Corridor.
The first contract covers a new road linking Al Khail Road with the extension of Latifa Bint Hamdan Street. Its scope includes bridges, tunnels and associated road works connecting the route with Al Meydan Street and surrounding development areas.
The second covers sections of Al Meydan Street, including a new interchange and at-grade roads. L&T will also construct a cycle track connecting with the existing network and contributing to a continuous route between Al Qudra and Jumeirah.
Both contracts are scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. The completed corridor will extend for approximately 12 kilometres, accommodate about 16,000 vehicles an hour in both directions and handle more than 130,000 daily journeys.
L&T has not disclosed the exact contract prices. It classifies one order as “large”, representing ₹25bn–₹50bn, and the other as “significant”, representing ₹10bn–₹25bn. The resulting combined classification range is ₹35bn–₹75bn, approximately US$420mn–US$900mn, but this is an inferred range rather than a disclosed award value.
The works create defined subcontracting and supply requirements for civil structures, tunnelling, road construction, utility diversions, traffic systems, concrete, asphalt, lighting and cycling infrastructure.
