Umm Al-Qura University and Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Privatization & PPP have received expressions of interest from 73 local and international companies for the completion and operation of Umm Al-Qura University Hospital in Makkah.
The project will be delivered through a 30-year design, build, finance, operate and maintain contract. It involves completing, equipping and operating an existing hospital asset as a 391-bed university hospital.
The responses include 28 development companies, 14 healthcare operators, 13 contractors and facilities-management companies, 11 consultants, five medical-equipment and services companies and two finance and investment institutions.
Participants include Saudi Binladin Group, Al Bawani, Alfanar, Burjeel, Dallah Health, Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group, Saudi German Hospital, Surbana Consultants, Meinhardt, Aljazira Bank and Blominvest.
The EOI stage establishes the pool from which the government can structure the next procurement phase. Future opportunities will include project finance, hospital completion works, medical equipment, digital-health systems, facilities management and long-term clinical and non-clinical operations.
