Abu Dhabi Launches Major Data Centre and AI Infrastructure Tenders

Abu Dhabi has intensified procurement for hyperscale data centres and artificial intelligence infrastructure as the emirate seeks to establish itself as a regional technology and digital services hub.

Industry executives said recent tenders linked to power systems, cloud facilities and digital infrastructure represented some of the fastest-growing segments of the UAE construction market.

The projects align with the UAE’s broader strategy to expand investment in artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology and digital services. Officials have increasingly promoted Abu Dhabi as a destination for global technology companies seeking access to Middle Eastern, African and South Asian markets.

Executives in the technology sector said sovereign wealth funds were playing a critical role in financing the expansion. “AI infrastructure is becoming as strategically important as ports and airports,” said one Gulf-based investment adviser. “Governments now view digital capacity as national infrastructure.”

The tender activity has attracted international engineering and technology firms specialising in power systems, cooling technologies and advanced computing facilities. Informed sources said rising electricity demand linked to AI computing had become a major driver of infrastructure planning in Abu Dhabi.

Market watchers expect further procurement packages linked to renewable energy, power grids and digital infrastructure to emerge over the coming year. Commentators said Abu Dhabi’s technology expansion could become one of the emirate’s most important economic diversification stories of the decade.
