Kuwait hosting agreement puts 2027 Asian esports event on procurement radar

Kuwait hosting agreement puts 2027 Asian esports event on procurement radar

Kuwait has signed an agreement to host the inaugural Asian Games for Esports and Mind Sports in 2027, creating the prospect of future venue, technology and event-delivery procurement.

The agreement was signed by Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Tareq Al-Jalahma, and Kuwait Olympic Committee President Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah with Olympic Council of Asia President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani.

The announcement establishes Kuwait as host but does not identify the competition dates, participating disciplines, venues or expected number of athletes and officials. No government expenditure, delivery body or procurement timetable has been disclosed.

The event may be accommodated in existing facilities, limiting permanent construction requirements. It could nevertheless require competition and broadcast systems, gaming equipment, telecommunications capacity, cybersecurity, temporary infrastructure, venue adaptation, ticketing, accommodation, transport and event-management services.

The opportunity should remain classified as early-stage until the organising structure and venue plan are published. The next significant milestones will be the formation of an organising committee, selection of venues, approval of the event budget and release of supplier or service tenders.
