Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy has awarded Natural Gas Distribution Company a licence to build, own and operate a natural-gas distribution network in Al-Kharj Industrial City.
The ministry announced the result on 4 October after completing bidder prequalification, issuing the tender and evaluating the submitted bids.
The network forms part of the Kingdom’s Liquid Fuel Displacement Program, which is intended to replace liquid fuels with natural gas and expand access to gas for industrial users.
The ministry and NGDC did not disclose the investment value, network length, capacity, delivery timetable or the number of customers expected to be connected.
The licence moves the scheme into development and creates potential requirements for detailed engineering, pipelines, pressure-regulation and metering systems, civil works, controls, testing and operations support as the delivery programme is defined.
