Kuwait Launches Data Centre and Digital Infrastructure Procurement Programme

Kuwait has intensified procurement linked to data centres, cloud infrastructure and digital government systems as authorities seek to modernise public services and expand the country’s role within the Gulf technology economy.

The projects include hyperscale data centres, fibre-optic networks and cybersecurity systems designed to support digital transformation initiatives across government, banking and commercial sectors.

Technology analysts said Kuwait is accelerating digital infrastructure investment as Gulf neighbours compete aggressively to attract technology firms and AI-related investment. Digital infrastructure is now viewed as critical national infrastructure, said one Gulf technology consultant.

The procurement activity has attracted interest from international cloud providers and engineering firms specialising in advanced computing facilities and digital connectivity systems. Informed sources said rising demand for AI processing and cloud services was driving infrastructure planning across the region.

The expansion comes as Gulf governments increasingly integrate digital transformation into economic diversification strategies aimed at reducing long-term dependence on hydrocarbons.

Commentators expect additional procurement linked to artificial intelligence, fintech and smart-city technologies to emerge over the coming years. Market watchers said Kuwait’s digital infrastructure strategy could play a major role in future economic competitiveness.
