Safari secures Hail airport expansion contract

Safari secures Hail airport expansion contract

Cluster2 Company has awarded Safari Construction the main contract for the expansion and rehabilitation of Hail International Airport, according to project-industry reports published on 2 September.

The project includes a new 5,600-square-metre southern extension connected to the existing passenger terminal. The departures and arrivals areas and baggage-handling facilities are also scheduled for improvement.

The wider scope covers passenger boarding bridges, a new lounge, aircraft aprons, a rapid-exit taxiway, parking and a new terminal access road. Cargo, mosque, power, water and airport-road facilities are included in the reported programme.

Cluster2 operates and develops a group of Saudi airports under Matarat Holding. The Hail expansion is intended to raise the airport’s annual capacity to approximately 1.7mn passengers by 2030.

The contract value and construction timetable have not been disclosed. The works nevertheless define requirements across airside civil engineering, terminal systems, baggage handling, passenger bridges, utilities and specialist aviation equipment.
