Oman Launches Musandam Renewable-Energy Feasibility Tender

Oman Launches Musandam Renewable-Energy Feasibility Tender

Oman’s Nama Power & Water Procurement Company has invited bids for consultancy services to assess renewable-energy development opportunities in Musandam Governorate, opening an early-stage procurement opportunity that could lead to future power-generation projects.

MEED reported the tender on 25 August 2026, saying Nama PWP intends to undertake a techno-economic assessment of renewable-energy options in the governorate.

The consultancy will examine potential technologies and development configurations suitable for Musandam, providing the technical and economic foundation for future investment decisions.

Although the consultancy contract itself is smaller than the major EPC awards elsewhere in the region, feasibility studies of this kind are important early indicators for contractors and investors because they often precede project structuring, developer procurement and eventual construction packages.

The work also fits Oman’s broader strategy of diversifying electricity generation and introducing additional renewable capacity alongside existing gas-fired generation.

For engineering consultancies, renewable-energy developers and infrastructure financiers, the tender offers early visibility into a potential future investment programme in a geographically distinct part of Oman’s power system.
