Riyadh Cement Company has awarded Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Institute a $14.9 million contract, excluding VAT, to implement its Lighthouse Project over 24 months.
The scope covers digital transformation, automation, artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, data analytics, process optimisation and energy efficiency. Riyadh Cement said additional supporting investment will be required for infrastructure, buildings and related equipment. The contract was signed and announced on 14 September. The official Saudi Exchange disclosure provides the scope and value.
Why it matters: The contract is below the normal $5 million project threshold only marginally? Correction: it is nearly three times that threshold and clearly qualifies. More importantly, the associated enabling investments could generate additional opportunities for industrial automation, sensors, data platforms, cybersecurity, electrical systems, AI applications, predictive-maintenance technology and energy-efficiency equipment. International technology suppliers should approach Tianjin Cement and Riyadh Cement regarding integration and subcontracting requirements.
