Dubai Holding has awarded AED5bn ($1.36bn) to China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East for construction of its new corporate headquarters and the neighbouring Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers development.
The contract, announced on 9 September, is the largest construction contract awarded by Dubai Holding to date. Dubai Holding’s own media announcement confirms the AED5bn value.
The headquarters has been designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and is scheduled to open in 2029. The second component comprises 754 branded residences across two towers, with completion scheduled for 2030.
China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East will deliver both developments. The involvement of a major Chinese contractor also reinforces the international dimension of Dubai’s current construction pipeline.
Although the principal construction award is now closed, a contract of this scale should generate extensive downstream opportunities in façades, MEP, vertical transportation, fit-out, building systems, specialist materials, landscaping, luxury residential interiors and construction services.
For GCC Tender News readers, the practical target is therefore no longer Dubai Holding’s main contract but CSCEC Middle East’s supply chain as the projects enter detailed procurement and construction.
