Expo 2030 Riyadh Company has invited bids for a major construction package covering the Souq areas at the Expo 2030 site, opening another substantial procurement opportunity within the kingdom’s six-square-kilometre Expo development.
The package covers five precincts with a combined development area of about 300,000 square metres. Bids are due on 9 October 2026.
The five areas comprise The Icon, Place & Planet, Culture of Wisdom, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Adaptation & Innovation. Their individual development areas range from about 41,400 sq m to more than 82,300 sq m.
The contractor’s scope includes the precincts’ vertical elements, infrastructure and public-realm works. The development will also interface with three public parks and connect with the Expo’s Natural Corridor, including bridges.
The Souq is planned as a mixed-use centre connecting major thematic and landmark components of the Expo site. It will contain rented and partnership pavilions alongside food and beverage, retail and visitor-experience facilities.
Construction activity across the wider Expo programme is accelerating. Earlier infrastructure packages have included an estimated SAR1bn ($267m) initial works contract covering roads and approximately 50km of utility networks.
The value of the new Souq package has not been disclosed, but its scale makes it highly relevant to major building contractors, MEP companies, infrastructure specialists, public-realm contractors and suppliers targeting Expo 2030.
