Contractors prepare proposals for 2.5GW Ajman power plant

Contractors prepare proposals for 2.5GW Ajman power plant

Contractors are preparing bids for the proposed Al-Zawra combined-cycle gas-turbine power plant in Ajman, according to a report published by MEED on August 31.

The plant is planned with generation capacity of between 2,500MW and 2,700MW. At that scale, it would represent a substantial addition to the northern emiratesโ€™ generation infrastructure and require multiple major engineering and equipment packages.

The project is at the competitive proposal stage. Likely workstreams include gas turbines, steam turbines, heat-recovery steam generators, substations, grid connections, water systems and balance-of-plant construction.

The projectโ€™s expected investment value and bid deadline were not disclosed in the public version of the report. Companies considering participation should obtain the formal procurement documents rather than infer a deadline from secondary tender listings.

The capacity range nevertheless makes Al-Zawra one of the largest active power opportunities identified during the review period, with potential roles for international EPC contractors, original-equipment manufacturers and specialist local partners.
