Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority has received six proposals from international engineering and design firms for a contract to study and design the Airport Express Line, a planned metro route linking Dubai International Airport to Al-Maktoum International Airport.
The bidders β Aecom with Surbana Jurong, AtkinsRealis, Jacobs, Parsons with Arup, Systra with Egis, and WSP β represent the US, UK, Canada, Singapore and France.
The roughly 55-kilometre line would run from the Red Line station at DXB through Al-Jaddaf and along Al-Khail Road to a new station at Jumeirah Village Circle, before continuing to DWC, with two spur lines serving Emirates Golf Club and Business Bay. The route broadly parallels the Etihad Rail high-speed line now under construction.
The Airport Express Line is the latest in a run of metro tenders from the RTA this year, alongside an ongoing request for qualification for the new Gold Line.
