TAQA moves Mirfa to Liwa water transmission bids to January 2027

Published

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has issued a request for proposals for its Mirfa to Madinat Zayed and Liwa water transmission and distribution scheme, with bids now due on 5 January 2027, extended from 11 November, MEED reported on 20 October 2026. The project was originally estimated at $775m.

The scheme includes a 128 million-gallons-a-day pumping station at Mirfa, about 125km of pipelines to Muzairah with branches to Madinat Zayed and Liwa Summit, and four distribution clusters at Liwa East, Liwa West, Madinat Zayed and Seih Al-Kheir. Earlier bids, submitted in January 2025, were still under evaluation in August; it is not confirmed whether the new request is a revised procurement.

What to watch: bid submission on 5 January 2027 and any further extension.

Scope: pipeline milestone, not an open invitation to bid.

Checked: 2 November 2026. MEED, 20 October 2026.
