Verification scope and caveats
Phosphate 3 railway — second track-doubling section
Project summary
MEED reported on 25 September that SAR was preparing an award for the second track-doubling section of its phosphate railway expansion. The reported package covers more than 150km on the corridor serving Waad Al-Shamal and Ras Al-Khair, supporting additional mineral-freight capacity.
What to watch
Check SAR’s vendor and tender channels for an award notice confirming the second-section contractor, scope and delivery programme. Separately track depot, systems and supplier procurements linked to the wider rail expansion.
Evidence and access caveats
No official award for this section was located. The historical SAR4.2bn network-expansion estimate, the first-section award and recent rolling-stock orders are separate figures or procurements. The PMC’s reported 54-month term should not be assigned to this construction package.
