Saudi Arabia is reshaping its investment priorities as the kingdom channels more resources into logistics, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and industrial development while reducing emphasis on some high-cost mega-projects, according to Reuters.
Recent reports indicate that the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which manages approximately US$925 billion in assets, has adopted a new strategy under which around 80 percent of investments will be directed toward domestic economic development projects.
The shift comes as Saudi Arabia seeks to accelerate economic diversification under Vision 2030 and create sustainable growth engines beyond oil revenues. Key target sectors include logistics, tourism, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, AI infrastructure, and technology.
The strategy is already generating significant investment opportunities. One of the most notable examples is a planned AI data center program that could require financing exceeding SAR20 billion (US$5.3 billion), positioning the kingdom as a regional hub for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Saudi officials have also highlighted strong growth in domestic tourism and logistics as investment increasingly shifts toward projects with clearer economic returns and job creation potential.
Industry experts expect the new investment focus to generate substantial procurement activity in logistics parks, industrial facilities, data centers, transport infrastructure, and smart technology systems over the next five years.
