Saudi Arabia continues to accelerate two of its flagship Vision 2030 developments as construction progresses on the $8.5 billion NEOM Green Hydrogen Complex and major infrastructure works advance across Qiddiya City, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to renewable energy, tourism, entertainment and economic diversification.
At NEOM’s Oxagon industrial city, construction is moving ahead on what is expected to become the world’s largest green hydrogen production facility. The integrated complex will produce up to 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen per day in the form of green ammonia, powered entirely by approximately 4 gigawatts of renewable energy generated from solar and wind resources. The facility is expected to eliminate an estimated five million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually by replacing conventional fossil fuels in global transport and industrial markets. Construction activities have intensified across the site, with engineering, procurement and installation work progressing on electrolysers, renewable power infrastructure, transmission systems, storage facilities and export terminals. Meanwhile, significant progress is also being reported at Qiddiya City, located southwest of Riyadh, where construction is advancing on infrastructure, transport networks and the first phase of entertainment, sports and cultural attractions.
Qiddiya Investment Company continues to award contracts covering roads, utilities, hotels, residential districts, public spaces and visitor facilities as the project moves toward its initial opening phases. Once completed, Qiddiya will cover approximately 376 square kilometres and feature more than 600,000 residents, 48 million annual visitors, and over 500 tourism, entertainment and cultural attractions. Among the landmark developments currently under construction are Six Flags Qiddiya City, Aquarabia Water Theme Park, motorsport facilities, performing arts venues, hotels and mixed-use commercial districts.
