Saudi AI data-centre project awards $52.7m engineering package

Edarat Communication and Information Technology Company has secured a SAR197.8m ($52.7m) package from Al Moammar Information Systems for engineering services on a major Saudi artificial-intelligence data-centre programme.

The award covers a development with 200MW of planned capacity, with Edarat responsible for design, construction supervision, testing and commissioning. The award letter was received on 8 September.

The contract represents a specialist package within the wider AI infrastructure programme being delivered by MIS for HUMAIN rather than the value of the complete data-centre development.

MIS’s wider mandate was expanded in August to include an additional 200MW of AI-dedicated capacity, taking the overall planned development from 50MW to 250MW. The expanded MIS scope has been reported at more than SAR8.77bn.

The Edarat package will cover engineering and technical supervision during construction before moving through testing and commissioning to operational readiness.

The award highlights the increasingly substantial engineering and supply chain developing around Saudi Arabia’s AI infrastructure build-out, with opportunities extending into electrical systems, cooling, backup power, data-centre equipment, controls, testing and specialist construction.
