Qatar’s $14.9 Billion Project Pipeline Drives New Wave of Infrastructure and Tourism Tenders

Qatar is maintaining a strong development momentum with an estimated US$14.9 billion worth of projects currently moving through planning, procurement and construction, led by major investments in energy, aviation and tourism that are expected to generate significant tender activity over the coming years.

Among the largest projects is QatarEnergy’s NGL 5 Plant, a strategic natural gas liquids processing facility that forms part of the country’s ongoing expansion of its energy infrastructure. The project is expected to increase gas processing capacity while supporting Qatar’s growing LNG production and downstream petrochemical industries. Industry sources indicate that engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages, together with associated utilities and infrastructure contracts, will continue to create opportunities for regional and international contractors. Another flagship development is the expansion of Hamad International Airport (HIA) through the construction of Cargo Terminal 2, designed to strengthen Doha’s position as one of the world’s leading air cargo hubs. The new terminal will significantly expand cargo handling capacity while supporting the continued growth of Qatar Airways Cargo and the country’s logistics sector. The project is expected to generate contracts covering cargo handling systems, warehouses, utilities, airside infrastructure and specialist aviation facilities. Tourism and real estate also remain key pillars of Qatar’s development strategy. The Simaisma Beachfront Destination, with an estimated investment of US$5.5 billion, is progressing as one of the country’s largest mixed-use coastal developments.

Located approximately 40 kilometres north of Doha, the master-planned destination will feature luxury hotels, waterfront residences, retail districts, entertainment venues, marinas, public beaches and leisure facilities. Once completed, the development is expected to become one of Qatar’s premier tourism destinations while supporting the country’s long-term economic diversification objectives. The combination of major investments in energy, aviation and tourism is creating a steady pipeline of procurement opportunities across engineering, construction, infrastructure, hospitality, utilities and specialist services. Industry analysts expect numerous contract packages to be released throughout 2026 and 2027 as projects advance into implementation.

The latest pipeline reflects Qatar’s continued commitment to investing in strategic sectors beyond the FIFA World Cup, with government-backed developments increasingly focused on expanding industrial capacity, strengthening logistics infrastructure and growing the tourism economy.

For contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers and technology providers, the current project pipeline offers substantial opportunities across multiple sectors, reinforcing Qatar’s position as one of the Gulf’s most active infrastructure and investment markets.
