Full story and sources
QatarEnergy’s $2.5 billion NGL-5 project at Mesaieed Industrial City has generated another international contract award as construction progresses on the new natural-gas-liquids processing facility.
US-based Nessco has secured a subcontract covering telecommunications, radio and security systems for the development. The contract was awarded by India’s Larsen & Toubro Energy Hydrocarbon, the lead EPC contractor.
The NGL-5 facility is designed to process up to 350 million cubic feet a day of rich associated gas produced from QatarEnergy’s offshore and onshore oil fields.
The main EPC programme is being delivered by a consortium comprising L&T Energy Hydrocarbon and Greece-headquartered Consolidated Contractors Company, with L&T responsible for engineering and procurement and CCC handling construction activities.
The development includes feed-gas compression, gas sweetening, dehydration, NGL recovery and fractionation, sulphur recovery, refrigeration, carbon-dioxide treatment, utilities, effluent-water treatment, product pipelines and extensive brownfield modifications.
NGL-5 will replace several existing processing units at Mesaieed and produce sales gas, ethane, propane, butane and hydrocarbon condensate.
QatarEnergy intends to bring the facility into operation by the second quarter of 2028, leaving a continuing procurement pipeline for technology, instrumentation, telecommunications, process equipment and specialist subcontracting as construction advances.
