Oman’s 120MW Jaalan Bani Bu Ali Wind Project Reaches Financial Close

Oman’s 120MW Jaalan Bani Bu Ali Wind Project Reaches Financial Close

Oman’s renewable-energy programme has moved forward with the achievement of financial close for the 120MW Jaalan Bani Bu Ali (JBB) Wind Independent Power Project, bringing the development closer to construction and commercial operation.

The financial close was announced on 11 August 2026 by a consortium led by EDF power solutions, together with Al Khadra Partners and OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE).

The project is located in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, approximately 440 kilometres from the Port of Duqm, and is expected to become one of Oman’s major onshore wind developments.

The project follows a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with Nama Power & Water Procurement, under which the consortium will develop, finance, build and operate the wind farm.

Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027.

Once operational, the 120MW project is expected to supply low-carbon electricity to more than 13,500 Omani households and avoid more than 270,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, according to the project consortium.

The project is also expected to generate opportunities for construction and engineering companies, electrical equipment suppliers, turbine and balance-of-plant specialists, transmission contractors and operations and maintenance providers.

The JBB development forms part of Oman’s broader programme to increase renewable-energy generation and diversify the Sultanate’s electricity mix in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The achievement of financial close represents an important step toward construction and further strengthens the pipeline of renewable-energy projects being developed across the Sultanate.
