Oman seeks legal adviser for 3GW solar programme

Nama Power and Water Procurement has invited proposals for legal consultancy services covering three solar independent power projects planned under Oman’s Solar 2030 programme, according to a report published on 3 September.
Each project is planned with generation capacity of approximately 1GW, giving the programme an aggregate capacity of 3GW. Commercial operations are targeted for the second quarter of 2030.
The legal adviser is expected to support preparation and procurement of the three privately financed projects. The publicly accessible information did not disclose the advisory-contract value, submission deadline or tender reference.
The appointment will form part of the preparatory work needed before developer procurement and project financing. Later stages are likely to involve separate technical, financial and commercial advisory work, followed by requests for qualifications and proposals for the generating assets.
For banks, developers and professional advisers, the tender is an early indicator of a substantial future IPP pipeline. Equipment demand would ultimately centre on photovoltaic modules, inverters, substations, grid connections, control systems and supporting civil works, subject to the final project specifications.
