Nakheel awards Dubai Islands coastal works to Mar Marine

Nakheel has awarded Mar Marine & Building Contracting a marine and beach works package for Island B at Dubai Islands. Announced on 8 October, the contract is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027. Its value was not disclosed.

The works will create 320 metres of beach frontage near Bay Villas and upgrade approximately 3km of the island’s western shoreline. Mar Marine will construct breakwaters, remove existing protective rock revetments and form a new beach, alongside refurbishment and remedial work on existing coastal areas.

The package supports the waterfront surrounding Bay Villas, a community of 636 villas and townhouses. Fibrex received a separate AED2.6bn construction contract for that development in August 2025.

Nakheel also awarded Al Nasr Contracting an AED527m infrastructure and utilities package for Island B in April 2026. Those earlier amounts do not represent the value of the newly announced marine contract.

The announcement confirms contractor selection for the coastal package but provides no open tender or downstream procurement timetable.
