Full story and sources

Nakheel has awarded Metac General Contracting a main construction contract worth more than AED800m ($218m) for Phases 1 and 3 of Bay Grove Residences on Dubai Islands.

The contract covers 537 homes in seven residential buildings. Phase 1 comprises 296 homes across four buildings, while Phase 3 will deliver another 241 homes in three buildings.

Metac’s scope includes the main buildings, basement works, associated infrastructure and resident facilities including swimming pools, sports courts and a fitness centre. Main construction is scheduled for completion in late 2028.

Bay Grove is ultimately planned to comprise 1,154 homes across 15 buildings, so the latest award represents a substantial delivery package rather than the entire development.

For suppliers and specialist contractors, the main competition has closed, but the size and duration of Metac’s package make the project relevant for MEP systems, façades, lifts, fit-out, landscaping, pools, building materials and specialist residential subcontracting.
