Kuwait is maintaining strong investment in essential utilities, with approximately $4.3 billion worth of power and water contracts awarded during 2026, according to recent project-market reporting.
A report published by MEED on 11 August 2026 said that water projects account for the majority of Kuwait’s power and water contract awards this year, with the North Kabd wastewater scheme among the leading developments in the current pipeline.
The investment reflects Kuwait’s continued focus on expanding and modernising essential infrastructure, particularly wastewater treatment, water distribution and related utility networks.
The North Kabd wastewater project is expected to form an important part of Kuwait’s wider wastewater infrastructure programme, supporting the country’s growing residential and urban development requirements.
The current investment programme is creating opportunities across a broad range of activities, including wastewater treatment facilities, transmission networks, pumping stations, pipelines, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, engineering consultancy and operations and maintenance.
Kuwait’s utilities sector is also seeing continued development of power infrastructure, water-treatment facilities and renewable-energy-related projects as the country works to strengthen its long-term electricity and water supply capacity.
The scale of the 2026 awards demonstrates the importance of utilities within Kuwait’s infrastructure programme and provides a substantial pipeline for contractors, consultants, equipment manufacturers and specialist infrastructure companies.
With additional projects moving through procurement and tendering, Kuwait is expected to remain an active market for water, wastewater and power-sector contractors through the remainder of 2026.
