Kuwait Expands Industrial City Procurement in Manufacturing Diversification Drive

Kuwait has intensified procurement linked to industrial city expansion as authorities seek to strengthen manufacturing capacity and support economic diversification beyond hydrocarbons.

The projects include utilities, roads, warehousing and industrial support infrastructure tied to plans for expanding downstream industries, logistics and export-oriented manufacturing activities.

Industrial economists said Gulf states increasingly viewed manufacturing infrastructure as essential to long-term economic resilience. “Governments want stronger local production and industrial supply chains,” said one regional manufacturing adviser.

The procurement drive comes as Kuwait attempts to stimulate private-sector activity and create employment opportunities outside the public sector. Analysts said industrial expansion could become increasingly important given pressure to reduce reliance on oil revenues.

Contractors involved in regional industrial projects said Kuwait’s strong sovereign finances and industrial ambitions continued to attract international interest.

Commentators expect additional procurement linked to transport, utilities and industrial technology systems over the next several years. Market watchers said Kuwait’s industrial strategy would likely play a central role in future economic planning.
