Dubai completes Al Satwa junction upgrade

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has completed the replacement of Al Satwa Roundabout with a signal-controlled junction and associated road infrastructure improvements, according to a WAM report published on 14 October 2026.

The upgraded junction connects 2nd December Street with Al Satwa and neighbouring streets. Its design also accommodates bus movements into and out of the area, with the aim of reducing public-transport delays.

RTA expects the changes to halve journey times and reduce waiting times and traffic queues by up to 60 per cent during peak periods. These are the authority’s projected benefits; the report did not provide post-completion traffic measurements.

The junction serves routes towards Al Bada’a, Al Jafiliya, Al Hudaiba and Jumeirah, as well as connections to Sheikh Zayed Road. The works complement the wider Trade Centre Roundabout development and changes to surrounding transport corridors.

The report did not identify the contractor, disclose a contract value or specify the exact completion date. The milestone is completion of the junction upgrade, rather than an announcement of a new tender or contract award.
