Contractors Submit Bids for Abu Dhabi Masnouha Island Bridge

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport has received contractor bids for a new bridge linking Masnouha Island with the Abu Dhabi mainland, moving another transport and development-support project into the evaluation stage.

Contractors submitted bids on 1 September, with the development newly reported on 3 September.
The planned bridge will extend for approximately one kilometre and provide three traffic lanes in each direction. The structure will have an overall width of about 13 metres.

Two engineering configurations remain under consideration: a bascule bridge and a swing or swivel bridge, with the final structural option to be selected by the client.

The contract also includes substations, drainage works, water and sewer connections, electrical infrastructure and other associated works, broadening the potential supply chain beyond the bridge structure itself.

Masnouha Island is earmarked for longer-term waterfront residential and leisure development. Eagle Hills has previously announced a Bulgari-branded hotel and residential development on the island, including a hotel, villas and 90 large residential mansions scheduled to open in 2030.

The bridge therefore represents enabling infrastructure for a broader development area and should be relevant to civil contractors, marine engineering companies, structural specialists, utilities contractors and suppliers.
