Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has given contractors until 1 September to submit commercial bids for a new gas-oil gravity drainage facility at the Al-Ghubar field, extending a deadline that has already moved twice since the tender was floated in March.
Five firms are understood to be bidding: Greece’s Archirodon; a pairing of Egypt’s Engineering for the Petroleum & Process Industries and Petrojet; China’s Jereh; the UAE’s Kent; and India’s Larsen & Toubro Energy Hydrocarbon.
The facility, located in the Ghaba Salt Basin within PDO’s Block 6 concession, will handle up to 1,800 standard cubic metres of oil a day alongside associated water and gas-lift volumes, with production exported to PDO’s main oil line. The EPC scope spans a new 132kV substation, flare system, and an extensive off-plot pipeline network.
PDO originally planned to tender the project under its existing EPC framework pool before opting to run it as a standalone competitive tender.
