Bids Submitted for Qatar’s Dukhan Production Facilities Upgrade

Contractors have submitted bids to QatarEnergy for a substantial programme to upgrade production infrastructure at the Dukhan oil field, moving the project from tendering into bid evaluation.

The Dukhan Production Facilities Upgrade Phase 1B, Part 2 covers upgrades to 56 oil manifolds and 108 gas-lift manifold slots, together with chemical-injection systems and major pumping facilities.

The EPIC scope includes piping, instrumentation, control systems, electrical and civil works, demolition of obsolete equipment and improvements to degassing facilities.

Additional capacity works include installation of new oil-export and produced-water transfer pumps together with supporting facility modifications.

Contractors understood to have submitted proposals include Doha Petroleum Construction Company, Galfar Al-Misnad Engineering & Contracting and Qatar Engineering & Construction Company.

Dukhan is Qatar’s principal onshore oil field and currently contributes about 350,000 barrels a day of production, according to MEED. The field extends approximately 80 kilometres by eight kilometres and includes both oil and non-associated gas reservoirs.

The latest bid submission provides another procurement milestone for QatarEnergy’s continuing programme of investment in existing production assets and should generate follow-on opportunities for equipment, mechanical systems, instrumentation and specialist field services once the main contractor is selected.
