ADPIC and The Boring Company agree underground infrastructure studies

Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) has partnered with The Boring Company to assess underground transport and utility-tunnel opportunities across the emirate.

The agreement, announced on 8 October, was signed at the Liveability and Investment Exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The initiative is exploratory and concerns potential infrastructure solutions rather than an announced construction award.

The organisations will examine project feasibility, delivery and operating models. Their technical exchanges will cover tunnel planning, boring technology, construction methods, safety, maintenance and digital engineering.

ADPIC said the collaboration would also support local capability development and consider Abu Dhabi’s potential role as a regional centre for tunnelling expertise.

No route, tunnel length, project budget, delivery programme or procurement timetable was disclosed. The announcement does not establish an open tender or a commitment to build a particular scheme.
