Industry executives said new tenders covering logistics zones, cargo facilities and transport connectivity were among the largest infrastructure packages currently active in the UAE.
The expansion follows the opening of the airport’s new terminal complex, one of the largest in the world, and is expected to support rising passenger and freight volumes as Gulf airlines continue to benefit from recovering international travel and regional trade growth. Informed sources said Abu Dhabi authorities were prioritising projects linked to logistics, industrial activity and tourism rather than speculative real estate developments.
Executives in the aviation sector said “the Gulf aviation market is entering another expansion cycle and Abu Dhabi wants to secure a larger share of long-haul traffic, logistics and aviation-linked manufacturing.”
Construction companies and consultants said international contractors remained eager to participate in Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure pipeline despite growing competition and tighter project margins across the Gulf market. Market commentators noted that logistics and aviation projects were widely regarded as among the safest long-term investments in the region.
Additional tenders linked to industrial zones, free-trade areas and multimodal transport systems are expected in coming months as Abu Dhabi expands its role in regional trade networks. Commentators said the airport expansion would become one of the defining infrastructure projects shaping the emirate’s next phase of economic growth.
